Keep Moving Forward ~

Keep Moving Forward~~~~~~~You might not be going very fast but always keep moving forward. The Apostle Paul writes that he was, “forgetting what was behind and straining to reach the prize that was ahead.” Don’t focus on how far you still have to go…just keep taking one step at a time. God will always give you strength for that next step until you finish the race.

Know that you can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens you. Phil 4:13

Standing At The Crossroads

crossroad1This is what the Lord says “Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”Jeremiah 6 :16 –

May each one of us ask for the tried and true way. The wisdom of God and his ways. May we follow FAITH and not feelings. May we trust in the Lord with ALL of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding or cultures understanding. May each one of us acknowledge God in ALL ways, in EVERY aspect of our lives and he will guide us and HE WILL make our paths straight. To change our nation is to first change our homes. Let’s bring God back to the CENTER of everything in our lives. For he is an all or nothing God. He is Lord of ALL or he is not Lord at all.

Teach me your ways, Lord. Not my thoughts but your thoughts. Reveal to me the power you have placed within me. Strip away all of my selfishness and clothe me with more of you.

Our God is faithful. He will search us and he knows us well. He will reveal to us anything that will keep us from following him. HE invites us to come to where he dwells in holiness where our hearts and his heart can be one.

May each one of us say today… As for me and my house, We ARE serving you Lord. Guard our thoughts Lord. Our words, Our decisions, Our steps. Guide each one of us with your righteous right hand. Thank you Lord that your grace found me ~

~There Is No Win In Comparison…Compari-SIN ~

“There is no win in comparison” or how Andy Stanley says it, “There is no win in compariSIN”. He was a speaker at a women’s conference that I attended last Fall in St Louis. He actually does a three part series that I encourage EVERYONE to watch. The Comparison Trap series. His church is North Point Church in Atlanta, GA.

Comparing our life,  our husbands, our children, our possessions, our money, our jobs  with others has become a past time for some people. We never seem satisfied with where we are and what we are doing. We live in America and even with all of the problems it is still the greatest nation on the face of the earth. When I was in Israel , my family and I had an interesting conversation with someone who lives in Israel. He told us the reason that so many other countries hate Americans is we are so RICH beyond belief. It is who we are, it is pouring out of us, it is oozing out of us and the problem is, we don’t even know it. We want MORE.

We have ALL been guilty of this at some point and to some degree in our life. Living in this materialistic society it is something that each one of us must battle. Every where we look, TV, billboards, magazines tell us what to do to look young-er, skinny-er, rich-er, smart-er. As Pastor Andy says in this brief clip, we all want to be a better “ER”. It is something that we have to choose to not partake in by renewing our mind with the truth which is the word of God.

Envy and jealousy will not bring healing or blessings. In fact these emotions will destroy your health. It will destroy your peace of mind. It will destroy your testimony. It will keep you from experiencing the best that God has waiting for you. Proverbs 14:30 tells us that a calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

When we live in a state of jealousy or envy, we are basically telling God that He made a mistake. We are telling Him that His plan for our life is not good enough. ”God owes me!” This is a hard truth but it is the truth. God’s plan for our life is always better than our own plan for our life. When we live in a state of contentment and learn to be happy at others successes, when we stop comparing our lives to someone else, then and only then will we ever be ready to receive the amazing life God has waiting for us.

We are suppose to run the race that God has set for each one of us. Not the race that we set for ourselves. Not the race that other people set for us. Lastly, not the race that our culture sets for us. You only run the race that God has set for YOU. If we try to run any other course we are going to fail and get discouraged. I believe the reason there is so much discouragement today is we have taken our eyes off of God. We are trying to compare ourselves to others.

Trying to please other people. Living for the approval of others is a weight we were never meant to carry. We need to quit focusing to the left or to the right of us. We need to focus on above. We need to lift our eyes up and say, Where does my help come from, my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Psalms 121:2.

GRASP this truth today. God has created YOU for a unique and awesome purpose. Run forward in his love and his approval. He is always by your side and will never leave you or forsake you.God has an amazing plan for each one of us according to Jeremiah 29:11. ’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

He has blessings and favor waiting to be poured out. He is telling us to give up the jealousy today! Be happy where you are and with what you have! Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Please know that if we will not lay this at the foot of the cross, we may never see our own blessings or favor from God.

Live a life of gratitude and contentment! Do what you can with what you have and wait on God!! But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

~To Believe What I Already Know~

hands praying

As I sit here in the silence, I ask the Lord, what do you say to someone who is going through the deepest valley that they have ever faced? The deepest water they have ever been in and they are barely treading water. So, I pick up my pen and paper and I begin to write.

This past week, in my own world and reading my friends post on Facebook reveals there is so much heartache. I have seen an old school friend post her heartbreak on loosing her beloved mother. Another, lost their young child to cancer. Another child fighting for their life against cancer. My dearest precious friend is heartbroken for her daughter and her son in law are calling it quits and they have two children under the age of five. Several children and several of our friends are battling the disease of drug addictions. Another battling depression and loneliness and questioning the loyalty of a friend.

I am screaming silently, Don’t loose hope. Don’t give up. You are not alone. The word of God tells us in Psalms 34:18, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. I have been whispering under the tears the words to the song…Cry out to Jesus. He will meet you wherever you are. In times like these there are no words adequate enough. In these times if we can do nothing else, we can sit there silently with our loved ones. In the book of Job 2:13 – After Job has lost all his children, his home, his everything, his three friends sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw his suffering was to great for words. If distance separates us during friends trials we can get down on our knees right where we are and earnestly pray for our loved ones. We all can do something. There is so much power in prayer.

Sometimes we all think we are alone in our silent storm. There are so many uncertainties in this rapidly changing culture we live in today. IN these storms of life, DURING these storms, we must continue to praise Him. We must hold on to our faith and the foundations on which we stand. We must know and claim that Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible.

We must continue to say to ourselves silently and say it out loud and write it down, whatever it takes, Our God is our refuge and our strength. He is our rock and our fortress and the foundation on which we stand. Nothing, NOTHING is impossible for HIM. We know that He loves us come rain or come shine. Even with our voice shaking we must speak the truth to ourselves and to others.

We know nothing can separate us from His amazing love and His amazing grace. When we are discouraged, it is time to gather up our courage, for our Redeemer, our Sovereign God, Our Father will see us through. There is no valley, there is no mountain, there is nothing ever created greater than the love of Jesus.

I stumbled upon a song this week. A song that I have never heard before from Point of Grace. I felt each word deep in my soul. The song is called What I Already Know. It has been played over and over in our home.

Some of the lyrics, I’ve been known to loose my temper, my patience and my pride, but I have never lost the need to pray. Lord, I don’t need some truth revealed to me or some sacred thing to hold, Well, all I really need is just a little more faith to believe what I already know.

This is it friends, this is the key, the answer, during those valleys, during the uncertainties of life that we ALL face at one time or another, the way we keep the flame burning is to believe what we already know. The way we come out on the other side stronger and wiser than before we walked into that storm, BELIEVE what we already know.

Our God is faithful. In times when we think our way is better, we must say to ourselves, Your ways Lord are not our ways and your thoughts are not our thoughts. I will trust you! I know Lord, you Lord will see us through. Carrying us each step of the way just like a loving Father does. Friends, there is NOTHING greater than the love and grace He has shed on us, sweet grace, loving grace, a-m-a-z-i-n-g- grace ~~~ As always… God is faithful~

Never Give Up~

perseverance-leadership

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must never give up.

In Luke 18:1,  there is a story about a widowed woman who persistently went to a judge who ignored her. Now, Jesus was not saying that he was like that evil. He commended the woman for her perseverance. SHE NEVER GAVE UP. The Judge granted her request because of her perseverance.

How often do we give up serving God because we feel like we are not getting anywhere? How often do we get up early in the morning and rush right into the day because we had so much to do that we did not have time to pray?

Ask God for his strength. He will help you keep going even when you feel like giving up. HE will see you through. There is power in prayer. It is the fuel that we need to conquer each day, each valley, each test that come our way.

My challenge for each one of us today is this…Stay committed ~ Live by faith, Lean on his presence and the key to success is  LIVE BY PRAYER ~

The Holy Spirit and Horses ~

IMG_1853 IMG_1854 IMG_1855 IMG_1856
PenDragon rolling in the mud right after I groomed him ~` Big Sigh ~

I was laughing and shaking my head walking back to the barn when I heard the Holy Spirit say Darla, don’t laugh to loud for this is you. You see just like you groomed PenDragon, I have groomed you and prepped you and guided you to think on good thoughts. Keep your eyes on the Creator and not your circumstances. Because as you glance at your circumstances you start muddying your thinking. You start loosing sight of the Lord for you cannot see him through muddy lenses . You have been cleansed from the past, do not go back to the mud hole after you have been given righteousness.

Through eyes filled with tears, I was humbled through his word. How thankful I have a loving Father who forgives this daughter even when it is for the same mistakes again and again. How thankful am I that He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalms 40:2.

My God is f-a-i-t-h-f-u-l- ~~~

Where Are Your Accusers?

Jesus
In  times when I am wavering or I am in the pit or my spirit has been crushed by someones hurtful words or actions, The Lord is faithful and reminds me, Child,  I will work it out for your good and my glory. Stay focused on me and not your situation.  Our Sovereign God, Our intercessor, Our redeeming  savior will change his posture to meet YOU AND ME  in the pit or right where we are knocked  down or (set) on the ground. He will bend down for us just like he did for the woman caught in adultery that John shared with us in scripture.  Notice in the scripture below how many times Jesus changes his posture in this scripture. It is something we miss so many times when we read this passage.
Yes, I still battle the old me at times. The one that wants to surface and  would like to give the person that offended me a piece of my mind or a good smack upside the head or both ~ BUT, I know this is not the right thing to do.  We are  CALLED to be like Christ. Our Pastor Chris has named his current sermon series, I Have Decided ~ Just like the song we sung as children. I have decided to follow Jesus, No turning back, NO TURNING BACK.  For me to want to lay hands on them literally  maybe taking scripture out of context, just a little. Ha ~ Seriously though,  We have all been there.  In these times we must remind ourselves, what is written? There is nothing new under the sun. There is a scripture to hold on to about our situation. Lord, how do I react? What do I pray?  I am so thankful to the comforter. In his ever so loving way he reminds me of this scripture. In Romans 8 : 26,27- we are reminded that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit intercedes for us through wordless groans. AND he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. I am so thankful ~
Notice … when they had set her in the midst…..
John 8
New King James Version – But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.
7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
11 She said, “No one, Lord.”
And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Sea of Galilee

This is my first blog posting. I thought I would start by sharing some pictures from our recent missions trip to the Holy Land.

We finally got all of our pictures developed from Israel ~ These still stand out for me. The Sea of Galilee . There is something about these waters. A feeling of peace. Knowing my Savior walked on these waters. Taught by these waters. Oh, if only the waters could talk. ALL they could tell us from what they witnessed ! May each one of us hear his words…. Peace be still ~

Jesus recruited four of his apostles from the shores of Lake Galilee: the fishermen Simon and his brother Andrew and the brothers John and James. One of Jesus’ famous teaching episodes, the Sermon on the Mount, was given on a hill overlooking the lake. Many of his miracles occurred here including his walking on water, calming the storm, and his feeding five thousand people ~ImageImageImageImagee
